Topping your cake… part I

Many brides come to us looking for advice on what to place on the top of their cakes.  Truly, it’s a personal preference, but here are some suggestions…

Flowers

Flowers can really bring a cake to life.  You can use them to add color or just to add texture to a simplistic design.  They can be placed on top only, on top with a few bundles placed on different tiers, cascading,  a single flower on the middle tier, or just a few petals sprinkled about the cake.  A great way to cut cost on flowers is to use your toss bouquet as your cake topper.  You can use fresh, silk, or hand made sugar flowers.
