Brookside Gardens Open House

Just a wedding season is winding down, the bridal show season is starting up.  We love to see our friends and colleagues in the industry, as well as introduce ourselves to perspective clients who may have not been aware of our work.  It’s a great opportunity for us to meet face to face with brides, grooms and their families in a more casual setting and have them sample some of the options we can custom make for their event.

Our first show of the season was at the beautiful Brookside Gardens Event Center in Berthoud.   The crowd at this show were in for a treat as some of the finest wedding vendors this state has to offer were in attendance.  Our booth traffic was steady and everyone enjoyed our array of sweet treats, especially our delectable cake pops!

We also got to  sample delicious food from our friends at Greenspoint Catering and Origins Catering Company, view some stunning floral arrangements by Petals From Heaven, listen to great music provided by Elite DJ and goof around with the fun staff from Booth 66.

Special thanks to Rick & Stephanie Osborne at Ardent Photography for supplying the great photo montage of our day.

All That Glitters

While we often blog about our most intricate and detailed cakes, we also love highlighting cakes that perfectly fit the event.  A simple butter cream tiered cake, covered in sugar crystals and placed on a glass pedestal may not sound like the most complex of designs, yet it is one of our favorite compositions.  This sophisticated cake polished off it’s vintage look with a broach and white feather accents.   When placed on a beautifully dressed cake table, this classic look for the bride and groom was complete!

Special thanks to the team at Harper Point Photography for supplying such a stunning photo of the cake.

Beam me up Scotty…

The Groom’s Cake, once an outdated-Southern tradition, are now making a welcome comeback!  It’s a way to give the groom special recognition on a day when most of the attention seems to center on the bride.  Most grooms we meet with see  their cake as a reflection of their interests or hobbies.   This “Trekkie” Groom wanted his cake to pay homage to his favorite television show, so we created a replica of the original Starship Enterprise from Star Trek.

Leaves are falling…

The change to fall is a welcome one around here.  The kitchen smells of spice cakes and pumpkin fillings and the concepts for wedding cakes have changed from bright colors to more neutral tones.  Fall brides like to be original but keep the fall feeling in their details, even the cake.   We recently did a simple cake utilizing a concept we do normally do with cherry blossoms, but would work beautifully for any fall wedding.  This cake featured leaves instead of flowers, which cascaded down the side of cake.  The finishing piece was our rustic tree stump stand.

Tiffany Blue Wedding

We had the honor of being a part of a fabulous wedding this weekend at the Omni Interlocken Spa & Resort planned by Debbie Orwat of Save the Date Events.   The Tiffany Blue theme was simply stunning and worked wonderfully on this 6 tier fondant wedding cake.  The sugar bow was studded with Swarovski crystals.  Congratulations Erin and Jeff!

Thanks to Chris Orwat of Premium Digital Solutions for these fantastic photos!
